Chonta Canyon is located in the district of Limatambo, 3 hours far from Cusco city. A place where you will get stunned observing the spectacular gliding of the Andean Condor between the walls of the Apurimac Canyon, enjoy a gentle hike of 1.5 hour from the comunity of Chonta to the Andean Condors viewpoints. (Horses optional).
This unique experience includes the visit of Killarumiyoq, a ceremonial Inka site dedicated to the Moon and Tarawasi, an arqueological site with religius functions. On the route you will enjoy excelente panoramic views of tropical valleys, local villages, farmlands and snow-capped Mountains.

We will pick you up from your hotel at 8:00 am to start our one-hour bus ride northwest of Cusco city towards Killarumiyoc, passing through beautiful tropical valleys, local villages and imposing snow-capped mountains. Once in Killarumiyoc (The Stone of the Moon) we will explore this Inca ceremonial complex with different ancient buildings highlighting a Stone block carved with the shape of the Moon.
We will continue our 45 – minutes bus ride to Tarawasi in the town of Limatambo, this Inca site houses a rectangular stone structure known as “Usno”, this had eminently ceremonial functions, built with perfect assembled granite blocks. After this tour we will go for lunch in a nice Restaurant. (Lunch included)
After lunch we will continue our excursion to Chonta community, where we will get ready for our 1.5-hour gentle hike to the Andean Condors view point. (Horses optional)

Once we arrive to one of the 3 viewpoints at Chonta canyon, from 2:30pm to 3:30 pm we will get stunned observing the spectacular gliding of the Andean Condor between the walls of this Canyon. Andean Condors are massive birds, among the largest in the world tha are able to fly and were considered sacred birds at the Incas time.
Around 4:00 pm we will return by the same way to the point where we started our Hike, our Transportation will be waiting to take us back to Cusco city arriving between 7:00 pm to 7:30 pm.
